Yulia
Yulia Volkova est née à Moscou le 20 février 1985, fille unique d'une famille modeste. Très tôt passionnée par la musique, elle suit une formation de piano en parallèle à ses cours généraux. Dès ses 9 ans elle rejoint la chorale "Neposedi". A 11 ans, Yulia va également suivre des cours de théâtre, elle tiendra notamment le rôle d'une chipie dans une série télévisée pour enfants "Eralash". Juste avant de quitter "Neposedi", Yulia rencontre Lena. En 1998 elle suit les cours de chant à l'école de Jazz et de Variétés de Moscou. Un an plus tard, suite au casting qu'elle réussit, elle rejoint peu après son amie Lena dans le groupe tATu.

Yulia est souvent perçue comme la "bad girl"du duo. Son coté franc et actif y est sans doute pour quelque chose. "Elle pète le feu" dit Lena à son sujet. Yulia quant à elle ne se lasse pas de répéter que finalement, peu de gens la connaisse vraiment.

Elle est très amie avec son cousin, Sergey Lazyrev soliste du groupe Smash (Un groupe qui a fait une reprise en français du célèbre opus de la comédie musicale "Notre Dame de Paris")

Depuis le 23 septembre 2004, Yulia est la maman d'une petite fille nommée Vika. Ses passions sont sa famille (son père collectionne absolument tout ce qui concerne tATu), sa fille, la musique et les sorties avec ses amis

Lena
lena Katina est née à Moscou le 04 octobre 1984 dans la famille de Sergey Katine, musicien professionnel qui a notamment collaboré au projet "Dunes". Dès son plus jeune âge, son père la sensibilise à la musique, aux sports et même aux arts plastiques. A sept ans, parallèlement aux cours généraux, Lena suit également une formation de piano à l'école de musique. A dix ans elle devient soliste à la chorale d'enfants "Avenue". Trois ans plus tard elle rejoint le groupe "Neposedi" (Les remuants) où elle rencontre Yulia Volkova et devient sa meilleure amie. En 1999, elle passe avec succès le casting de ce qui allait devenir le groupe tATu. Elle sera rejoint plus tard par Yulia. Depuis elle suit des cours de psychologie à l'université lorsque ses activités professionnelles le permettent.

Lena est souvent perçue comme une fille calme et réservée. Elle même se décrit ainsi dans une interview accordée à l'émission russe internationale "Une heure avec..."

Dans ce même reportage, Lena évoque sa foi en la religion orthodoxe et le paradoxe que cela entraîne avec le coté libertin de tATu. Elle ne se reconnaît pas comme lesbienne même si elle admet qu'entre elle et Yulia, il y a eu plus qu'une histoire d'amitié.

Ses passions sont la lecture, la musique, sa famille (elle est l'aînée de deux s½urs) et les sorties avec ses amis
